Archistart promoted the fourth Architectural Thesis Award, the international thesis award, launched with the aim of promoting, rewarding and giving visibility to young talents in architecture.
221 young professionals under 35 of 23 different nationalities took part in the competition with 155 projects.
The jury was composed of Simonetta Cenci Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia AF517; Francesco Lipari; and two members of the Archistart team, Giacomo Potì and Tommaso Santoro Cayro.

Archistart ha promosso il quarto Architectural Thesis Award, il premio tesi internazionale realizzato con l’intento di valorizzare, premiare e dare visibilità a giovani talenti del mondo dell’architettura.
Al concorso hanno partecipato 221 giovani professionisti under 35 di 23 nazionalità differenti con 155 progetti.
La giuria era composta da Simonetta Cenci, di Atelier(s) Alfonso Femia AF517; Francesco Lipari e due componenti del team Archistart, Giacomo Potì e Tommaso Santoro Cayro.

Name project: Unfinished Tor Vergata Scenario
Architect: Carmelo Gagliano
Nationality: Italian
Jury’s motivation: The thesis stands out for the complexity and for the ability to control and resolve a complex architectural element. The project idea investigates the possibility of reusing an incomplete architecture with a new function, represented by the designer at the different levels, including the interior design scale. The jury particularly appreciated the communication and graphic design skills.
Motivazione giuria: La tesi si distingue per complessità e capacità di controllo e risoluzione di un elemento architettonico complesso. Il progetto indaga la possibilità di riuso di una architettura incompleta con una nuova funzione che il progettista rappresenta alle diverse scale, fino al controllo della scala di allestimento. La giuria ha apprezzato particolarmente le capacità grafiche e di comunicazione del progetto.
2ND PLACE
Name project: Adaptive Reuse of STP Grain Silos > Poudrière Community HUB
Architect: Alila Mhamed
Nationality: Tunisian
Jury’s motivation: The thesis project stands out for the complexity and completeness of the proposed intervention solutions. The proposed building structure is feasible and widely articulated. The jury positively assessed the clarity of the designs used to present the project idea.

Name project: BADOLATO – BIYUNGFENG. Open planning strategies promoting dynamic rural heritage in shrinking TERRITORIES.

Jury’s motivation: The thesis was appreciated for the comparison strategy of two urban and landscape systems. The research at the basis of the thesis work is very articulated and complex, as well as the strategy of the proposed interventions.
