Archistart has had the good fortune to meet many young talents who have then stood out in the working world.
After 5 years from the launch, the web platform has now more than 13,000 active users and 25,000 followers on social networks. Almost 4,000 young architects took part in the workshops and events.
For the fifth anniversary, Archistart has tracked down some of them to talk about their professional lives.

Archistart ha avuto la fortuna di intercettare negli anni numerosi giovani talenti che si sono poi contraddistinti nel mondo lavorativo.
Dopo 5 anni di attività il portale web conta più di 13000 users attivi e 25000 followers sui social. Quasi 4000 giovani architetti hanno preso parte a workshop ed eventi.
In occasione del quinquennale dalla prima attività Archistart ha rintracciato alcuni di loro che hanno raccontato qualche aneddoto sulla loro vita professionale.
Alessandra Giorgino is an architect from Puglia who’s now working in Milan – she is one of those young talents of the community who took part in more than one event promoted by Archistart (IAHsummer14 – IAHroma14) and she’s keeping on following us and participating. Alessandra will tell how she has gone through several experiences and how her career path has evolved over the years.
So here are some curiosities about her and some useful advice for young architects:

Racconterà lei stessa come ha vissuto le varie esperienze e come si è evoluto il suo percorso professionale negli anni successivi.
Ecco qualche curiosità che la riguarda e qualche consiglio utile per i giovani progettisti:
Alessandra, in 5 years from your first step in the Archistart world many things have changed and we can say we have been growing as you have been doing re your professional career. Tell us how you have lived and you are living this journey together.
I met the Archistart team in 2014 when, as a student of architecture, I participated in the first workshop promoted by the association (IAHsummer2014): a design week at 100 mt from Salento seaside together with 100 other guys from all over the world. It was an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to any young architect.
I have been in contact with Archistart since then, attracted by this young and dynamic organization and by the innovative and stimulating approach to architecture; I lived the professional path of the association closely, as I was going on with my professional training (thesis, graduation, architectural license and first working experiences). A constant confrontation that has enriched me not only professionally but also personally.
Seeing that every year hundreds of young people have continued to join the community, participating in the events of the association has meant a lot to me too: it is like a family that is becoming greater and greater thanks to fresh talent and positive energy.

Ho conosciuto i ragazzi di Archistart nel 2014 quando, ancora studentessa di architettura, ho partecipato al primo workshop promosso dall’associazione (IAHsummer2014): una settimana di progettazione a 100 m dal mare del Salento insieme ad altri 100 ragazzi provenienti da ogni parte del mondo. E’ stata un’esperienza indimenticabile che consiglierei di fare a chiunque giovane architetto.Sono rimasta in contatto con Archistart nel corso degli ultimi 5 anni, attratta da questa realtà giovane e dinamica e dal loro approccio innovativo e stimolante nei confronti dell’architettura; ho vissuto da vicino il percorso professionale dell’associazione mentre io continuavo il mio percorso formativo (tesi, laurea, esame di stato e primi lavori). E’ stato un confronto costante che mi ha arricchita non solo professionalmente ma anche umanamente.
Vedere che ogni anno continuano a partecipare agli eventi dell’associazione centinaia di ragazzi è una soddisfazione anche per me: è come una grande famiglia che pian piano si arricchisce di talento ed energia positiva.
You were born in Taranto, lived in Manduria and Lecce, studied architecture in Parma and now you work in Milan. How important is it to move from your comfort zone and face the risks in our job?
The architect’s profession requires continuous stimulation; my idea is that looking for these inputs is the basis of our job.
My path led me to study and work away from home and my family. It was not an easy choice but moving from the comfort zone sometimes also means recognizing your limits and potential; personally it has led me to have greater awareness and self-confidence, fundamental requirements in a working environment.

La professione dell’architetto necessita di continui stimoli; sono dell’idea che andare alla ricerca di questi input sia alla base del nostro lavoro.
Il mio percorso mi ha portata a studiare e lavorare lontana da casa e dalla mia famiglia. Non è stata una scelta facile ma muoversi dalla propria comfort zone a volte significa anche riconoscere i propri limiti e le proprie potenzialità; personalmente mi ha portata ad avere maggiore consapevolezza e sicurezza, requisiti fondamentali nel mondo del lavoro.
It's never easy to leave home. Especially for people from Apulia, that keeps on appealing its sons and daughters from faraway. Now, since 2017, you have been living a wonderful working experience with Il Prisma. Tell us how this opportunity came up and what you do in this architecture firm
Yes, I’ve been living in Milan for almost two years; the opportunity to work at Il Prisma came through Archistart. I welcomed the idea of moving to Milan and after two years I still think I made the right decision. Il Prisma is an active and dynamic architecture and design company where I am growing professionally day by day thanks to the contact with different professional figures.
It is a very stimulating work environment and I am currently working on the design of offices and workspaces that welcome the contemporary way of working.

Sì, sono a Milano da quasi due anni; l’ opportunità di lavoro presso Il Prisma è arrivata tramite Archistart. Ho accolto di buon grado l’ipotesi di un trasferimento a Milano e a distanza di due anni continuo a pensare di aver fatto la scelta giusta. Il Prisma è una società di architettura e progettazione attiva e dinamica nella quale continuo a crescere professionalmente ogni giorno grazie al confronto con diverse figure professionali.
E’ un ambiente di lavoro molto stimolante e attualmente all’interno dello studio mi occupo della progettazione di uffici e spazi di lavoro che accolgano il modo di lavorare contemporaneo.
How do you see your professional future? Have you ever thought of crossing the Italian border and challenging yourself even outside your country of origin?
I am a very curious person and challenges do not scare me. The idea of an experience abroad has always intrigued me and I think this also contributes to adding value to the professional and personal training. But I also believe that the important thing is to feel happy, satisfied and alive, always, no matter where you are.

Sono una persona molto curiosa e le sfide non mi spaventano. L’idea di fare un’esperienza fuori mi ha sempre intrigata e sono del parere che anche questo contribuisca ad aggiungere valore alla propria formazione professionale e personale. Credo anche però che l’importante sia sentirsi appagati, soddisfatti e vivi, sempre, a prescindere dalla posizione geografica.
