Shanghai International Warehouse is a project arose from the will of investigating how the city of Shanghai could be reconnected to the vast water surface it has: Huangpu River. Shanghai takes advantages of its river since it was born and it is still the main infrastructural system for city’s maritime economy. However, throughout years the relation between citizens and river has been completely erased. Nowadays the West bund is the key point area that tries to established this lost relation through a strategy that seeks to bring domestic and foreign leaders together in the fields of culture, art, fashion and design. SIW establishes itself in the West bund area as a device that it is able to collect what this new development needs.
