Poveglia is an abandoned island, an evanescent and mysterious landmark of the southern venetian lagoon. Somehow crystallizing many issues the local community has to face, the Poveglia university is an avantgarde campus, the conclusion of a dialogue between the most contemporary learning paradigms translated into architectural concepts, and the strong and delicate character of the existing architectures of the island. This thesis thus answered overwhelming questions: how can such a unique university become a pilot project for a sustainable transformation of the relationship between Venice and the islands? how can can we transcend historical barriers and contemporary constraints into enriching experiences with architecture?
